Chapters of Life
Last weekend I was with my family on a trip to the City of Rocks. The City of Rocks follows the California trail, one of the major routes used by emigrants heading out west during the 1800s, amazing history with the promise of land, gold and freedom. These are transitions that people make in their life, marking the end of a chapter, and beginning a new one with the hope their life becomes better than it was before.
During the trip I was thinking about my next chapter in my life. I mentioned on my last post about how I'm going to start looking at a bachelor's degree. Well I decided to go for it and registered for school, I'll be starting that in September. However I was also thinking about my personal life, and what I'm thinking will be the next big chapter with my partner and I.
If you follow the clues throughout this site then you might have an idea that I've been with my boyfriend for almost four years, we met on August 28th 2021. There is a whole chapter of memories of us getting to know each other, with him meeting my family, and I meeting his family. Just like every relationship we also had some rough patches to figure out together. Like every good chapter it needs to end and into another chapter of life, otherwise we are just riding life without ever tying the reins to it, never taking commitment.
Since we are at the City of Rocks you can imagine that this is a good place to rock climb. So we did some "real" rock climbing. We also got to see how my brother climbs, without any pre-anchored routes up rock cliffs. He manually puts in temporary anchors while he is climbing up the rock face. My brother also showed us along with his wife how to rappel down after climbing to the top.
The commitment of going all the way was shown by both of them, trusting each other all the way until the end. That got me thinking about us, my partner and I. Although we could just continue our status quo, we only get one chance to really find out what we are made of. It's time to make another life transition and go all the way until the end.
