Another Summer Ahead

I’ve got everything packed and in the car waiting for an early drive into central Idaho for a 30ish mile hike with the family and my amazing guy of three years together. Although he’s questioning this ‘hike’. It’ll be a challenge, but I think we can make it and come out on top and in the end, we’ll both love it.

I’ve been in this area before with my family but with a different person four years ago, we went onto different paths at the end of our relationship, but it was my first time ever bringing someone on a family trip which opened nervousness, and precautions for me. At that time in my life, I came out to my family a year ago. (It’s hard to believe it’s been about 5 years already) So it was my first-time telling people about him and my family talking to him.

During our hike I remember him telling me along the lines of, “Do something you love Ryan, go and get some of your goals”. We were too different for the relationship to continue but we both had a common ground in trying to find that special someone in our lifetime. I remember I teared up as I kind of knew that he was slightly pushing me away, to become someone that is stronger for the next guy I meet.

That’s one of the reasons I love walking away into the wilderness, you explore physically what’s around you as well as what’s inside you. You have heart to heart conversions with people you love and are just yourself with no distractions, being able to discover what your next chapter is, warts and all! 🏳️‍🌈
